چکیده

Abstract Background Postoperative ocular imbalance is an important problem for orbital decompression surgery in thyroid eye disease (TED). The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes unilateral deviation and duction following discuss biomechanics imbalance. Methods Fifty-four TED patients who underwent were included. Fifteen 1-wall (deep lateral wall) decompression, 18 2-wall medial 21 3-wall lateral, inferior decompression. Objective subjective operated eyes evaluated using prism test synoptophore, respectively. Ocular ductions measured Hirschberg’s method. diameters extraocular rectus by computed tomography. Results showed no significant difference after ( p = 0.25–0.89). Esotropia increased 0.001–0.02), hypotropia 0.02). Adduction but abduction decreased < 0.05). Infraduction 0.001). Additionally, increase esotropia significantly correlated with adduction decrease r 0.37–0.63, There correlations between diameter esotropia, postoperatively 0.35–0.48, Conclusions different 1-wall, contractile force may be reason strabismus surgery.

Orbital Decompression in Thyroid Eye Disease

Though enlargement of the bony orbit by orbital decompression surgery has been known for about a century, surgical techniques vary all around the world mostly depending on the patient's clinical presentation but also on the institutional habits or the surgeon's skills. Ideally every surgical intervention should be tailored to the patient's specific needs. Therefore the aim of this paper is to r...

Transient uniocular visual loss on deviation of the eye in association with intraorbital tumours.

Five patients with unilateral orbital tumours are described in whom transient loss of vision occurred on deviation of the affected eye from the primary position. Other presenting features were diplopia, proptosis, poor visual acuity, visual field defects, pupillary abnormalities, fundal changes and altered colour vision. Abnormalities on fluorescein angiography suggest that the visual loss is d...

Changes in salivary gland function following radioiodine therapy of thyroid diseases: A comparison of high-dose therapy for thyroid cancer and low-dose therapy for benign thyroid disease

Introduction: High-dose radioactive iodine therapy in differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) may adversely affect the salivary gland function. This study is aimed to evaluate the effect of radioactive iodine (RAI) with dose of 100 mCi in DTC patients compared to lower doses of less than 30 mCi in hyperthyroid cases. Methods: Fifty four patients (13 men and 41 women) age: 42.3±14.3 (21-71) years w...
